What are the characteristics of the surge phenomenon?
In the event of surge in the operation of a centrifugal compressor, the operation of the unit and the network has the following characteristics:
(1) The outlet pressure and inlet flow rate of the gas medium vary greatly, and sometimes gas back flow may occur. The gaseous medium is diverted from the compressor to flow to the inlet, which is a dangerous condition.
(2) The pipe network has periodic vibration, large amplitude, low frequency, and accompanied by periodic "squeaking" sound.
(3) The vibration of the compressor body is strong, the casing and the bearing have strong vibration, and a strong periodic airflow sound is emitted. Due to the strong vibration, the bearing lubrication condition will be destroyed, the bearing bush will burn out, and even the shaft will be twisted. Broken, the rotor and the stator will produce friction, collision, and the sealing components will be seriously damaged.
How to prevent anti-surge adjustment?
Surge is extremely harmful, but it has not been eliminated from the design so far. It can only avoid running the unit into surge conditions during operation. The principle of anti-surge is to cause the surge, when the surge is about to happen. Immediately try to increase the flow of the compressor so that the unit runs out of the surge zone. There are three specific methods for preventing surge:
(1) Partial gas venting method.
(2) Partial gas reflux method.
(3) Change the compressor running speed method.
